CBD and sleep

CBD is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the hemp plant that can interact with our bodies endocannabinoid system

Why is CBD such a big deal and so exciting?

According to examine.com the world’s leading platform for unbiased scientific information. CBD won’t get you “high”, unlike THC (the other main cannabinoid in cannabis).

Second, isolated CBD has shown a ton of promise in animal research particularly in areas of treating inflammation, pain and anxiety.

However, unfortunately there are not many human trials completed. But things are heating up and there are now currently nearly 255 studies going on studying cannabidiol (CBD).

Is CBD safe and dosages?

As this 2017 review shows, a great deal of research has found that it’s a relatively safe treatment.

The studies analysed in that review didn’t show that there’s one universal dosage of CBD that everyone should take.

Instead, it underscored the fact that different people (and, in the animal studies, different animals) respond to different dosages of CBD.

Most of the human studies use dosages anywhere between 20 and 1,500 milligrams (mg) per day.

Dosages can vary wildly and there are some variables linked to CBD effectiveness such as:

->Your body weight

->The condition you’re treating

->Your individual body chemistry

->The concentration of CBD in each pill, capsule, drop, or gummy

Why aren’t CBD dosages standardised?

The short answer is the MHRA and FDA, at the writing of this article, hasn’t recommended a daily amount for consumption of CBD, meaning that CBD doesn’t have an official serving size.

Taking CBD for sleep:

Although the required volume of research available is not sufficient to be able to make medical claims about its benefits, many people in the UK are taking CBD Oil to help improve their sleep.

CBD is believed to interact with our Endocannabinoid systems. The ECS is responsible for regulating numerous bodily functions like mood, pain and sleep and it does this by maintaining homeostasis (a balanced internal environment).

Users of CBD frequently report experiencing a deeper sleep and waking up feeling more refreshed than normal.

There are thousands of success stories all across the web of people reporting that their sleep has improved from taking CBD. One such success story from one of our customers Pete is below.

How does CBD interact with our body?

Our bodies contain what’s known as an endocannabinoid system, which is involved in regulating mood, sleep, and pain and inflammation levels.

Endocannabinoids are produced naturally within the body and bind to cannabinoid receptors all around the body to help maintain homeostasis (balance).

Contrary to what you may think, the endocannabinoids do not come from within CBD oil, but CBD helps to create the right internal conditions to help us produce more.

It is thought that CBD helps these receptors do what’s needed in order to stimulate all kinds of beneficial changes through the body.

CBD Dosages for sleep:

As mentioned above there is no standardised dosages for sleep but what we do recommend is to take more based on your body-weight.

Start at the dosage linked below and increase the dosage over time if need be.

CBD dosage table

So, for example if you weigh between between 70-90kg and you suffer with a moderate anxiety issue we’d recommend taking 5 drops of our 10% oil to start with.

If you don’t feel any effects raise your dosage slowly until you start to.

You can then cross reference the above table with the table below to work out the best oil for you and how long it will last.

CBD dosage table

So, if we take our example from above of needing to take 5drops of our 10% oil.

The bottle contains 200 drops so taking 5 drops a day would mean your bottle would last 40 days.

It’s important to note that this would just be a starting point many people end up doubling or even tripling their dosage if they need to.

Our recommendation:

We would always recommend scheduling a consultation with one of our team. We are on hand to help you choose the right oil for you so you can get started on your journey to improved wellbeing.

Why tinctures?

Tinctures are the safest, most effective delivery system for CBD. When taken sublingually (under the tongue), CBD is more rapidly and efficiently absorbed for maximum benefit. The effects last longer than they do from smoking or vaping without the negative by-products.

CBD information

Before trying CBD, be sure to talk to your doctor about an appropriate dosage and any potential risks. If your doctor tells you how much to use, stick to their recommendation. This is especially important if you’re taking a prescription medication that contains CBD, such as Epidiolex, a form of seizure medication
